Challenging Myself

This year has been a challenge all on its own, but heading into fall I want to take stock of what I’ve accomplished this year, and what I want to get done in the next.

I’ve been writing a short story a week for just over three months, which gives me enough to put out a couple of short story collections. That’s one goal. The next is to finish the book I’ve been working on and get it published. My mantra is “I will not chase the shiny, I will not chase the shiny,” and so surely I won’t be distracted by new ideas while I’m mid-novel.

I’m proud I’ve been able to keep up on the story challenge. I sometimes get tired, and sometimes I end up writing the entire story on the day it’s due – but I still manage to do it. Now if I do the last, very important part, I’ll have it made. (That is, putting my work out there after it’s done. It’s doing no one good sitting on my hard drive).

Thanksgiving is in two weeks. We’re staying home and having dinner for two, then enjoying a long weekend. I hope everyone reading this stays safe this holiday season.

Thanks for reading.
